An immersive day of weaving, yarning and learning open to all, with the acclaimed designer and artist, Cassie Fisher-Patterson. Cassie uses native grasses in her traditional weaving workshops . You will learn about a range of weaving styles and how to create a unique basket 'Binak' or healing bangle 'mon mungan'.

Cassie is from the Taungurung and Dja Dja Wurrung people from the Kulin Nation. She is an Indigenous artist, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and educator. Cassie’s work has been acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria, Koorie Heritage Trust Collection, Melbourne Magistrates Court of Victoria and is exhibited nationally and internationally. At the heart of each work is Cassie's unique, story and Connection to Country.

Passionate about teaching her skills to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students of all ages, Cassie's aim is to give participants the opportunity to learn and understand Aboriginal culture and develop knowledge of both historical and contemporary Aboriginal history.

Presented in conjunction with Little Oberon Cafe Gallery's group exhibition, 'In Land,' this workshop will be held in the beautiful Fish Creek Memorial Hall. To ensure a gentle and connective day, places are limited. A scrumptious morning tea of coffee and cakes (with GF options) from Little Oberon Cafe are included with the cost of the workshop but please BYO lunch or visit several cafes nearby.
