WEAVING RELATIONAL HDR SUPERVISION PRACTICE

The workshop series Weaving Relational HDR Supervision Practice supports HDR supervisors to build culturally safe, reflexive relationships and foster communication grounded in empathy for the HDR journey of First Nations peoples.

This two-part series is essential to strengthening working relationships between HDR scholars and their supervisors, positively impacting the success of a HDR scholar's journey.

Part One: Wednesday 12 August 2026, 1:00pm–5:00pm AEST

Part Two: Wednesday 26 August 2026, 1:00pm–5:00pm AEST

Workshop Structure:

2 x 4 hour workshops (including breaks), guided by a First Nations facilitator
Hosted virtually via Zoom
Up to 20 participants

About the training

Developed with Dr Michelle Webb and Amanda Sibosado, this workshop series aims to support participants to build culturally safe, reflexive HDR relationships. Participants will leave the training with a framework and tangible actions to improve their collaborative ways of working.

Many First Nations students have non-Indigenous supervisors on their supervision team. Given that the scholar-supervisor relationship has an important impact on the HDR journey, culturally safe supervision that understands and centres the unique experiences of First Nations people in the academy is essential to supporting a successful HDR journey.

By coming together in deep reflection and exploration, participants strengthen their support networks to keep learning and reflecting long after the workshops end.
