Join Dharawal weaving collective Malima for a string making and fishing net workshop. Over the course of the session, you will use natural fibres to weave string with techniques used to create the collective fishing net on display in LA+ 003 | Malima + Numbulwar Numburindi. If you'd prefer to keep your piece of string, you're more than welcome to do so.
Guided by Dharawal women from the La Perouse Aboriginal community, whose cultural connections to coastal Sydney and Botany Bay bring authenticity and meaning to every workshop.
The weaving workshop offers a space for connection, learning, and honoring the deep relationship between people, land, and tradition.
Whether you are new to weaving or have experience, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, weave with purpose, and immerse yourself in Aboriginal culture.
Free, materials provided, bookings required.
