Dispelling Myths About Fasting In Women

We don't commonly implement fasting protocols for our patients straight out from our studies, and many practitioners have never recommended extended fasting periods for their patients in their clinics. However the research is showing us that the human body, when in the fasted state, launches an amazing array of self correcting and healing protocols. When I graduated, the science on fasting was scarce, as was formal training or education on this subject. Most research covered fasting in the male body, yet fasting in the female body, around hormonal cycles and challenges therein, was left off the research table. Until today. The topic of fasting for women is hot one, and there are numerous online fad water fasting programs, that the general public are diving into - unsupported, without guidance and of more concern - without adequate preparation and monitoring. Naturopath and Fasting Coach Nicky Wood is here to dispel the myths around fasting for women, and some of the nuances that practitioners may want to consider when considering the recommendation of fasting for their female patients.
