Webinar: Understanding H5 Bird Flu

Join Landcare ACT and the Conservation Council of the ACT Region for an informative webinar on the current state of H5 avian influenza and its potential impacts on Australian wildlife, featuring expert presenters Dr Kyeelee Driver, ACT Chief Veterinary Officer and Kim Farley, President of Canberra Birds.

You will learn about the origins of H5 bird flu, how it has spread to Australia, potential risks and impacts to our local wildlife, and how the ACT Government and Canberra Birds are responding.

About the speakers:

• Dr. Kyeelee Driver, ACT Chief Veterinary Officer: Dr Kyeelee Driver is the ACT Chief Veterinary Officer. She led the ACT's response to the H7 avian influenza incident in 2024 and has worked in biosecurity and animal health roles with the ACT Government for more than 10 years. Dr Driver is supporting the ACT Government's preparedness and response efforts for H5 avian influenza.

• Kim Farley, President - Canberra Birds: is a prominent local bird expert who contributes to conservation efforts across the ACT region. From small beginnings in 1964, the Canberra Ornithologists Group, now known as Canberra Birds, has grown into an effective and influential organisation that conducts bird surveys, supports research and actively puts its case for bird conservation to government and other organisations.
