Legal Essentials for Practitioners

In this webinar, Michelle will look at the legal essentials that every practitioner needs to know in order to be a responsible business owner.

She will begin by looking at Consumer Protection, exploring what your obligations are under the automatic consumer guarantees, and how to write a really good refund policy.

She will also look at your required website legals. This includes your Website Terms and Conditions, which are required for any Australian business that advertises services through a website, and your Privacy Policy, which is mandatory for all service providers who deal with health and wellness.

Next, Michelle will explain how intellectual property laws impact your business. After a brief overview of the use of business names and trade marks, she will discuss issues of copyright and how to protect your creative works.

Finally, Michelle will turn to client service agreements. We will learn how to tell when a contract is needed, and when it is not safe to operate without written terms of service, and Michelle will set out the basic elements that a good contract needs to cover.

Michelle Whitehead

Michelle is an accredited mediator and solicitor with a history of academic success. She is also a homeschooling mother with three amazing children who are rapidly getting taller than she is.

As an entrepreneur, Michelle is passionate about building a business that demystifies legal concepts and assists creative entrepreneurs and small businesses with their legal needs. She loves the fascinating and wonderful challenge of reinventing traditional legal constructs - such as contracts - for the needs of a new paradigm of business.

Her clients are intelligent business owners who value authentic connection and are not afraid of vulnerability. Traditional contracts based in fear of the other, control and avoidance of risk are not what they need or want.

Michelle prefers to offer Contracts that Care – agreements with a focus on creating loving boundaries, managing expectations, and holding space for relationships to flourish, while still covering all of the important legal elements.
