Webinar: Plants as effective mediators, novel anti-virals and therapeutic agents in the immune system

This webinar will be an evidence based topic, on plant chemistry as therapeutic agents in supporting general immune function focusing on medicinal plants that have antiviral effects by either inhibiting the formation of viral DNA or RNA or by inhibiting the activity of viral reproduction.

The past year has been an unusual and challenging year in healthcare, particularly when addressing how we build up our clients to strengthen their immune systems, over two sessions we will examine the effects plant medicine can have on the complement system and our innate adaptive and acquired immunity. We will identify compounds and their mechanisms, appropriate dosaging and any cautions that may be required.

Part I: Phytochemistry: Constituents as immune mediators

This topic is an overview of the mechanisms in plants that a few constituents have that have positive effects on general immunity.

Polyphenols; anthocyanins, flavonols. Beta-glucans
Bitter principles; terpenoids, lignans; sesquiterpenes
Cannabinoids or cannabinoid-like compounds and β-caryophyllene
