The Neurobiology of PTSD: How Trauma Rewires the Brain

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is not a failure of coping or resilience — it is a measurable, adaptive change in the brain and nervous system following threat and overwhelm.

This webinar explores PTSD through a neuroscience-informed lens, examining how traumatic experiences alter brain structure, brain communication, and stress-response systems. Rebecca Lang is a Bachelor-qualified Naturopath with advanced diplomas in Nutritional Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine, and postgraduate training in Mental Health and Neuroscience, and currently finishing her Masters. With over two decades of clinical and business experience, Rebecca works at the intersection of mental health, nervous system regulation, and whole-person healing. Her work focuses on understanding how trauma, chronic stress, and adversity impact the brain and body, and how recovery is supported through regulation, safety, and neuroplasticity rather than willpower alone.

Rebecca is the President of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) and has held multiple board leadership roles, contributing to national advocacy, education, and professional standards within natural medicine. She is also the founder of multiple health and education initiatives spanning clinical practice, practitioner education, community mental health, and lifestyle-based prevention.

Her teaching style is grounded, compassionate, and science-led, making complex neuroscience accessible and practical for both practitioners and the broader community.
