Perimenopause and Menopause: Untangling Clinical Complexity

Perimenopause and menopause represent one of the most clinically complex transitions in women’s health. Hormonal fluctuation rarely occurs in isolation, and symptom presentations are often shaped by overlapping endocrine, metabolic, neurological, immune, digestive, and psychosocial drivers. For practitioners, effective care requires far more than symptom management—it demands sophisticated clinical reasoning, pattern recognition, and an integrated treatment framework.

This two-part webinar series is designed to deepen practitioner understanding of the menopausal transition, helping clinicians move beyond simplistic hormone narratives to uncover the full physiological picture.

Part 1: Perimenopause – Decoding the Transition

Part 1 focuses on the often unpredictable and misunderstood years of perimenopause, where fluctuating ovarian function can create diverse and confusing presentations long before menstruation ceases.

Practitioners will explore:

The neuroendocrine physiology of perimenopause and changing ovarian signalling
Why fluctuating oestrogen and progesterone can drive anxiety, insomnia, mood change, migraines, mastalgia, heavy bleeding, and cycle irregularity
The relationship between perimenopause, HPA-axis stress responses, thyroid function, insulin resistance, and body composition changes

The role of inflammation, histamine, immune activation, and microbiome shifts in symptom amplification

Part 2: Menopause – Long-Term Health, MHT and Integrative Care

Part 2 transitions into post-menopause, where declining oestrogen influences multiple systems and creates both symptomatic and long-term health considerations.

The physiology of menopause and systemic effects of reduced ovarian hormone production
Vasomotor symptoms, sleep disturbance, genitourinary syndrome, musculoskeletal pain, mood shifts, and libido changes
Cardiovascular, metabolic, bone, cognitive, and urogenital implications of menopause
Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT): current evidence, indications, timing considerations, prescribing principles, risk stratification, and individualisation

Supporting women who cannot, do not wish to, or should not use MHT
Building long-term strategies for healthy ageing, vitality, and disease prevention
