Webinar: Trigger Points
Dr Janet Travell an American Physician born in 1901 who specialized in myofascial pain and dysfunction established the term “Trigger Points” in 1942. In 1992 Dr Janet Travell and Dr David Simons who was also an American Physician co-authored and published the first book describing trigger points titled “Myofascial Pain & Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual.
This webinar will focus on the history of trigger points, the different types of trigger points described by Travell and Simons, the neurophysiology of trigger points, the diagnostic criteria for identifying a trigger point, the effects trigger points have on muscle physiology and the musculoskeletal system. Once this has been established the webinar will then focus on the different treatment modalities that can be applied to trigger points within the clinic and a self-care program for the client to take home.
