Wednesday Talks // Ross Annels
Event description
Join us for a casual Wednesday Talk with Ross Annels.
Ross Annels is a maker, artist, designer, and educator. Ross works primarily with wood, as a medium and as a living record of ecological and cultural story. He has taught in studios, schools, and tertiary institutions, sharing an approach to design and making that values craft skills, reverence, curiosity, and dialogue with materials. His projects have ranged from large-scale restoration and conservation works to intimate domestic furniture, sonic sculptures, listening devices, display furniture for libraries and galleries, and a Bunya Infinity Forest for the National Museum of Australia.
Recently relocated from Kabi Kabi Country in Queensland, Ross and his partner Karla are re-establishing their studios in a new landscape at Mt Egerton, on Wadawurrung Country. Together they continue their collaborative and individual explorations of how craft and making can attune us to the intelligence of materials, and foster deep, sensory connections to place, process, and the natural world.
