Weed identifcation and management in Wooragee
Event description
Weeds are a headache for most landholders. They take the space where desirable plants should be, they are time consuming to manage, can damage stock and humans, harbour pests and escape into other areas.Â
Wooragee landcare is presenting a weeds workshop suitable for gardeners, land holders and people doing work in bushland areas.
It will be hands-on with a session in the hall covering what is a weed, weed identification, and different management techniques you can use. Weed identification is challenging so we will be giving you your own scrapbook and showing you how to make it useful for your property. We will have weed specimens there for you to look at and use in your scrapbook. We will then go to a nearby reserve to look at plants and management techniques.Â
What to bring : We'll have cuppa and biscuits during the hall session. Make sure you wear clothes suitable for the weather including good solid footwear. You can bring any weed specimens you would like identified.
Along with your scrapbook to take home you will get some notes and good references. We will have weed books available there for you to look and and see which ones you find useful.
Presenter -Â Wooragee Landcare's Sue Brunskill has been working with weed identifcation and management for more than 35 years including teaching adults at TAFE and landcare workshops. Other committee members who have lots of experience in this field will also be present.Â
