What does it actually take to make a Feminist Just Transition real?

Join Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA) and partners for a one-day roundtable bringing together Australian and global leaders working at the forefront of climate, equity and systems change.

This is a unique opportunity to connect with advocates, practitioners and policymakers from across sectors and regions, at a moment when global attention is turning to both climate action and gender equality.

Together, we’ll build relationships, share knowledge, and strategise to meet the challenges that we all share.

Why this matters

The adoption of the Belém Action Mechanism alongside the Belém Gender Action Plan at COP30 is a powerful invitation to all of us - the global community, governments, industry, business and civil society - to deliver a transition that places women’s rights, Indigenous rights and equity and justice for those most impacted by climate change, front and centre.

Australia has invested heavily in its transition to Net Zero. However, without a framework that addresses the inequities experienced by women*, particularly First Nations women, women in refugee and migrant communities, women with disabilities, women in regional communities and those most socio-economically disadvantaged - the transition will only benefit a privileged few.

As delegates gather in Santa Marta, Colombia at the end of April 2026 to discuss the phase out of fossil fuels, feminists from around the globe are also gathering at Women Deliver in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia, to ask - how do we build an ambitious, equitable and just feminist future?

*women always includes trans and gender diverse women and sistergirls.
