    Welcome Back Shore Birds Festival is an opportunity to celebrate, observe, and learn about the amazing migratory shorebirds that return annually to Toondah Harbour.

    Welcome Back Shorebirds Festival is a Free Event.

    Our Celebrity MC for the day is Hannah Moloney, host of Gardening Australia, who will guide us through the day’s activities with smiles and plenty of fun.

    The kids will be entertained all afternoon with great activities and parents can enjoy hearing a range of interesting speakers, explore the marquee displays and enjoy great music from renowned First Nations singer/song writer Joe Geia and talented local musicians Chuck's Blues Wagon, Clara Durbidge, and other entertaining performers.

    Arrive before 1pm so you don't miss the launch! We start the festival with a “Welcome to County” by Uncle Norman Enoch Quandamooka Elder. Followed by a special traditional First Nations Smoking Ceremony by Matt Burns.

    The free family-day fun includes; Beako the huge puppet, yummy food vans (food to be purchased), juggling/acrobatics, art and craft activities, photo booth, bird watching experience and competitions with prizes. 

    Bring a picnic rug and/or chair to relax. As its October remember hat and sun protection.

    Parking at GJ Walter Park is limited with a shuttle bus provided.

    Shuttle Bus times: 12.20pm until 5.20pm.
    Shuttle bus leaves Cleveland Station every 20 minutes.
    Pickup - near Coles, “Stop B” Middle Street Cleveland

    Drop off - at event and return to Cleveland Station. Other option - Ferry bus 271 and walk 10 mins to GJ Walter Park.
