Specifically, we are raising money to provide income support for those people seeking asylum and refugees who have been held in offshore detention by our Government, some for 8 long years. 15 men were released from detention in March and there are at least another 15 men currently being held in Villawood detention centre after being transferred from Nauru and Manus Island, and we hope they will be released soon. These men are entitled to NO government income support. Therefore refugee organisations and community advocates need to step in and help. Advocacy and refugee organisations find housing and employment, and help the refugees take the next steps to settle more safely into the community.  Refugee Voices will donate 100% of the profits from this fundraiser directly to the men released, aiming to provide each person with at least $1000 in support.

This is the first time presenting this event, with the intention of it becoming an annual event where we increase our fundraising goal each year. Our goal for year one is $20,000.

Can't make the event but would still like to donate? Refugee Voices will gladly accept donations of any amount  - please click this link.
