Welcome to Winter Dark Beer Festival
Event description
Join us in welcoming Winter with an array of delicious dark beers from South Australia's best breweries!
Normally we hold wine markets - hence the title 'Adelaide Wine Markets - but we've decided to celebrate our love of South Australian small-batch breweries with a dark beer festival that will keep you warm and cosy in the Winter weather. Join us at the rustic Market Shed on Holland for three delicious hours tasting a huge array of local dark beers (and much more).
What's a dark beer? Well, its a beer that is dark brown or almost black in colour, with it's distinct richer and more filling characteristics having made it hugely popular throughout CENTURIES of beer drinking. The darker colour of dark ale is due to a longer malt roasting during the brewing process, which bring out delicious flavours like roast coffee, dark chocolate and more.
You don't have to be a beer connoisseur to enjoy yourself at this dark beer fest, and alongside darker brews you'll also be able to try more beer styles from the local labels all in one space - it's a beer feast!
South Australian breweries providing tastings include:
Uraidla Brewery (Adelaide Hills), Bowden Brewing (Bowden), Suburban Brew (Goodwood), Kick Back Brewing (Aldinga), Shifty Lizard Brewing (Willunga), Little Bang Brewing (Stepney), Big Shed Brewing (Royal Park), Vale Brewing (McLaren Vale), Shapeshifter Brewing (Findon), and Barossa Valley Brewing (Barossa Valley) and Pikes Beer Company (Clare Valley).
New addition:Â Su Legno (Adelaide) who make barrel-fermented ales
You're also safe to bring your non-beer mates along as we'll have South Ave Seltzers pouring tastings, plus some spirits available to taste as well from Ambra Spirits and Imperial Measures Distilling, and Winter-warming Whiskey from Iniquity.
Food from local suppliers will be available to purchase on the day to keep you satisfied, and secondhand clothing stalls to browse through like Little Miss Waste Not Vintage, Vintage Pizza, Three Sixty Vintage and Penny For Your Threads.
You can also get ready to swing those hips with live and soulful blues from local musicians T-Bone.
Let us feast on dark beer!
