Well Crafted at IAC with Seth Kauffman & Evan Martin

The Iredell Arts Council is proud to present Well-Crafted at IAC, a five-part intimate music series curated by Asheville pedal steel guitarist Matthew Smith.

Set inside the historic Old County Jail, the series brings acclaimed musicians from Western North Carolina together for evenings that blend live performance and conversation, highlighting the creative relationships Matthew has built over more than 20 years of touring and recording.

This special evening features Matthew Smith joined by Seth Kauffman and Evan Martin for an up-close night of music and storytelling.

Seth Kauffman is the songwriter and producer behind the acclaimed project Floating Action, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in the Asheville music scene. Known for his soulful, genre-blending sound, Kauffman has collaborated with artists such as members of My Morning Jacket and has earned praise from critics and fellow musicians for his inventive songwriting and production style.

Joining them is drummer Evan Martin, best known for his work with the Asheville Americana band Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters, who have toured internationally and appeared at festivals including MerleFest, AmericanaFest, and Mountain Stage.

Together, these musicians will transform the Old Jail into an intimate listening room—sharing songs, stories, and the creative chemistry that comes from years of collaboration.

Expect an evening that feels less like a concert and more like sitting in on a conversation between great musicians.
