Hello international students and welcome to Well Fed & Ferments at the Study Melbourne Hub!

Just Food Collective's Well Fed: A Student Food Project is joining up with Farm to Ferment and Study Melbourne in 2026 to provide you with free delicious meals, followed by a series of amazing fermenting workshops led by master fermenter Patrick Meaney.

What will we do in the fermentation workshops?

Fermentation is an ancient practice that has been taking place across this planet since time began. Humans have been facilitating this for a long time too.

Each week we will be learning about a new culturally themed fermentation practice - pardon the pun. Learning with and from the magical powers of microbes.

You’ll be the talk of the town with your alchemical creations. Fermentation is not only fun and magical, but also a fantastic way to preserve food, and a great way to get creative with flavour in the kitchen.
Not to mention fermented foods are alive and probiotic. Therefore, they nourish your gut which is directly linked to your brain capacity, so think of it as study without cramming at your desk.

Each week we will have a culturally themed menu with corresponding fermentation workshop.

When are the Well Fed & Ferments workshops?
The dates in 2026 are: April 10, May 1, May 22, August 7, and September 11th.

Fermentation workshops will be at 2:30 directly following the Well Fed lunch. Spaces are limited so you will need to register on this page for the workshops. We will only have a few tickets available to hand out on the day - so don't wait!

Sustainability

To limit food waste and so other students don't miss out, please cancel your ticket 24 hours prior if you are unable to come!
We also LOVE when students bring their own reusable shopping bags for Well Fed groceries, reusable tupperware for their meals, and jars for their ferments - looking after each other means looking after the environment too! ❤️
