Wellington - Member Spotlight
Description
We’re bringing our Wellington community together for a relaxed evening of conversation and connection. This is less about formal presentations and more about meeting others in the HealthTech community, sharing experiences and learning from one another.
As part of this catchup, two of our members will share their career journeys, the different pathways that brought them into digital health and some of the lessons they have learned as women working in the industry. Come along for a drink, an open conversation and the opportunity to connect with people who understand the opportunities and challenges of working in HealthTech.
What to expect
5.00 pm-5.30 pm: Arrive, grab a wine and meet others from the Wellington HealthTech community
5.30 pm-6.30 pm: An informal member spotlight and conversation with Catherine Epps and Jennifer Anderson
Meet our speakers
Catherine Epps is Director, Medical Devices at Pharmac, a role she has held since 2023. The range of medical devices used across the public health system is vast, with technology playing an increasingly important role in how many of these devices function. Catherine has more than 20 years’ experience in senior leadership roles across public and private healthcare organisations in Aotearoa, including serving as Executive Director Allied Health, Scientific and Technical at Capital & Coast District Health Board. She later led a broad portfolio at WorkSafe focused on reducing work-related health harm, including carcinogens, mentally healthy work and musculoskeletal harm.
Originally trained as a speech-language therapist, Catherine is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Managers and a Chartered Director. She is currently Board Chair of Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand.
Jennifer Anderson works in biotech commercialisation, with a focus on technologies that improve human health. Her career spans New Zealand’s public and private sectors, including roles in technology transfer offices, early-stage investment firms and start-up companies. This experience has given her a practical understanding of what it takes to move science from the laboratory to the market, from intellectual property management and financing to building the right team. Jennifer is currently Business Development and Commercialisation Manager at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, where she helps identify promising innovations and supports their translation into the clinic.
Whether you’re well established in HealthTech, exploring a new direction or simply keen to meet others in the community, we’d love you to join us.
