West Coast Swing

Did you enjoy your first taste of West Coast Swing in our July workshop?

Come back and build on the basics in this relaxed, fun follow-up session.

Designed especially for those who attended our introductory session (or who already know the basic steps), this workshop will help you feel more confident on the dance floor. We'll revisit the foundations before introducing a few new moves, improving your lead and follow skills, and explore how to put everything together into a smoother, more enjoyable dance.

The focus is on practising what you've learned, growing your confidence, and having fun in a supportive environment.

This is still very much a beginner class so if you missed the first one but you feel comfortable to join in and pick up basic dance steps quickly, then please register.

West Coast Swing is a smooth, modern partner dance danced to everything from pop and blues to contemporary hits, making it one of the most versatile and social dance styles around.

No partner is required, as we'll rotate throughout the session so everyone has the opportunity to dance and learn together.

Facilitated by Paddy Richards & Aimee Hamilton from the Code 03 Swing dance classes and community in Christchurch. Paddy has been dancing WCS for over 10 years now and Aimee for the last 8 years. Both have taught at Code 03 Swing for a combined total of 10 years and they led the first beginners workshop in Ashburton in July.
