Event description

Ever wondered what happens with your waste once it's picked up from the verge? Or thought about where to take items that can't go in any of your household bins? 🤷‍♀️♻️🤷‍♂️

Find out at a community tour of your local West Metro Recycling Centre ♻️in Shenton Park! See for yourself how a transfer station operates and the different community recycling services we offer local residents 🧨.

What we’ll cover:

  • The history of Perth landfills and waste disposal
  • The purpose of transfer stations in recovery of residual, green and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste.
  • Disposal options for household waste including the recycling and recovery processes for cardboard, e-waste, bulk polystyrene, plastic plant pot, bicycles, x-ray, white goods, cooking oil, mattress, scrap metal recycling, and more, and the different local organisations we partner with to make it happen!
  • Government and industry initiatives that exist so that you can safely dispose of hazardous and problematic household items like paint, poisons, pesticides, flares, batteries, fluorescent tubes, fire extinguishers, electronic waste and more for free at the Recycling Centre.
