Event description

Western Sydney 16 Days of Activism March to End Violence Against Women

Join us for the Western Sydney 16 Days of Activism March to End Violence Against Women, a powerful event aimed at raising awareness and taking a stand against violence directed towards women. This in-person event will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 1:30pm. We will gather at Merrylands Oval (at the intersection of Merrylands Rd & Burnett St, Merrylands, NSW 2160.)

Together, we will march through the streets, united in our commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive community for all women. This event provides a platform to amplify voices, share stories, and advocate for change. Let's demonstrate our solidarity and show that men's violence against women is not acceptable.

We will arrive at Merrylands Civic Square to hear keynote speakers, enjoy some performances and grab a bite to eat and a cold drink. There will also be information tables with useful resources available.

Whether you are a survivor, an ally, a leader or a community member who wants to make a difference, this march welcomes all. Join us as we walk side by side, raising awareness and demanding an end to gender-based violence.

Together, we can build a future free from fear and violence.

This event has been proudly developed by Jesuit Refugee Service Australia in partnership with the Cumberland City Domestic and Family Violence Community of Practice and Cumberland City Council.

WET WEATHER UPDATE: In the event of wet weather, please bring raincoats, ponchos and umbrellas. If there is heavy rain, we will gather at the Merrylands Oval Hall, and if safe, we will walk around the Oval, rather than walk to the Merrylands Civic Centre.
