With commercial passenger flights at Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport set to commence, please join us for a discussion on how the region is being transformed, the progress made to date, and the key lessons for Western Sydney’s next chapter.

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in the country and the WSI Airport is accelerating that growth. The $10.9 billion City Deal commitment is unlocking opportunities in education, business and employment, and attracting new investment. 

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull AC and The Hon Paul Fletcher will discuss the fascinating tale of political twists and turns in the development of the second airport, as outlined in their Substack. There were two key decisions that delivered real economic reform to the region: one in 1986 by the Hawke government, and one in 2016 by the Turnbull government, which delivered competitive airports in Australia's biggest aviation market. This presentation will be followed by a panel discussion.

The City Deal is a 20 year partnership between the Australian and NSW governments and the eight councils of the Western Parkland City including the local government areas of the Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Hawkesbury, Penrith, and Wollondilly.
