Proudly hosted by Western Sydney Filmmakers Hangout and Made in the West Creative - we’re looking forward to getting everyone together to chat about the awesome projects you have been working on, meet some new people and maybe even find some new crew members in that true #westie spirit of collaboration.
Spotlight guests include: Matthew C. Vella (producer / networking host), Luke Walker (cinematographer / editor / set builder) & Si Dikkenberg (filmmaker / educator).
Great things happen in our community when we connect to discuss our ideas and filmmaking practice. It’s so inspiring to spend time with other creatives and hear how they are approaching the challenges of creative life and kicking goals in local productions!
From Canterbury to Penrith, Blacktown to Camden, and from Strathfield all the way out west to the Blue Mountains - all filmmakers are welcome to join us. And, if you’re a filmmaker who lives outside of Western Sydney and you want to work with some of us on a project, then feel free to come and meet the community.
Meeting people at networking events can be daunting, but online networking with #WesternSydneyFilm is totally fun!
These events are a unique blend of three elements: a live TV show with guest interviews, a Zoom party with random breakout rooms for smaller group chats, and a choose-your-own-adventure-style interactive game, complete with alternate endings.
You can access the event via your browser on desktop, tablet or mobile phone - anything goes.
Get ready to reconnect with old filmmaker friends, network with new potential collaborators, and find out what’s been happening in the local film scene. There are so many great people for you to meet!

Matthew C. Vella
Co-Host: Matthew C. Vella is an international award-winning filmmaker, comedian, podcaster & entertainer from Blacktown, Western Sydney.
Luke Walker
Spotlight guest: Luke Walker has over a decade of experience in cinematography, camera operation, editing and set building. As Director and Lead Videographer of Luke Walker Productions, he has handled projects for organisations such as Disney, Sony, and local NSW councils.
Si Dikkenberg
Spotlight guest: Si Dikkenberg (aka Si Berg) is a documentary and narrative filmmaker, as well as Creator-in-Residence at Western Sydney University's Launch Pad Creative. With decades of experience in education and corporate storytelling, Si is the Founder and Director of Who & Why Media, who have worked with organisations such as Coca-Cola, UNSW, Vodafone, charities and government organisations.
Ross Page
Host: Ross Page is a director, editor, podcaster and livestream technician. He is Technical Director & Co-Founder of Made in the West Creative and Artistic Director & Founder of Made in the West Film Festival.
Misty McPhail
MC: Dr Misty McPhail is a producer, strategist and community arts leader across Western Sydney. She is Managing Director & Co-Founder of Made in the West Creative and General Manager of Made in the West Film Festival.
