WestPride Launch: Pride at Murdoch
Event description
Join Murdoch University to celebrate and hear from the team behind the WestPride Archives (formerly the Gay and Lesbian Archives of Western Australia). With over 5000 items in their collection including books, letters, banners, tapes and even banners from Pride Parades gone by, this archive holds a key part of Western Australia's LGBTIQA+ history over the decades.Â
This event will include an opportunity to hear from the EDI team at Murdoch, Giz Watson, and the WestPride Committee, see a selection of archived items on display, and celebrate the work to preserve this wonderful collection. The items are also on display all of Pride Month in the Geoffery Bolton Library foyer.Â
The Launch begins at 5:30pm, with the panel launching from 6pm. The WestPride Launch will be hosted in the Launchpad Space of the Geoffery Bolton Library, and light food and drinks will be provided.Â
The Launchpad space is wheelchair accessible.Â
Free Parking after 5pm on the MU campus.Â
Murdoch University would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk and Binjareb Noongar People as the first owners of the land on which Murdoch University now stands. We pay our respect to elders past and present, and acknowledge the enduring culture of community, identity, and belonging that have been found on this land.Â
