    Wetland Wonders of the Vasse Wonnerup: Revitalising Geographe Waterways Science Update

    Event description

    Located on Busselton’s doorstep, the Vasse Wonnerup wetlands are recognised on a local, state, national and international level for their conservation, social and cultural values. Protecting and maintaining these values and improving management of the wetlands are a priority for the local community, Government agencies and Revitalising Geographe Waterways program. Join GeoCatch for presentations by experts studying the wetlands:

    • Dr Robyn Paice, Principal Ecologist, Ottelia Ecology. Monitoring aquatic plants in the Vasse Wonnerup Wetlands.
    • Dr James Tweedley, Murdoch University. Fish and macroinvertebrates of the Vasse Wonnerup.
    • Christine Taylor, DBCA Conservation Officer. Shorebirds of Vasse Wonnerup Wetlands – summary of 4 years of monitoring. Are the wetlands meeting Ramsar targets for our waders and waterbirds?
    • Sally Clifton-Parks, DWER Program Manager - Geographe Waterways.

    Where: Busselton Tennis Club

    When: Thursday 21st November. Arrive from 5.15pm for a 5.30pm start. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival, with light refreshments and snacks to follow the presentations around 7.30pm.
