Whakāturanga Rangahau | Research Student Showcase 2026

Whakāturanga Rangahau | Research Student Showcase celebrates new and innovative work by UC's leading Doctoral and Research Master’s students. These students have accepted the challenge to engage non-specialist audiences with their research through short presentations, 1-minute films and posters.  

Finalists will compete in the live finals of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, and winning entries of the Thesis Film Festival (TFF) and Exhibit Your Thesis (EYT) entries will also be featured. A combined prizegiving celebrates all three competitions, and the audience gets to vote on People’s Choice Awards.  

Dr Philipp Sueltrop, Chief Technology Officer at Kea Aerospace and a UC PhD graduate, is our keynote speaker. He is at the forefront of the latest innovations in the fast-growing aerospace sector, which is rocketing ahead here in Canterbury.   

Come and support our talented research post-doctoral students and learn about novel developments across topics and disciplines during an entertaining evening in the city.
