Recycle your old bits and create your Necklace for the Wall with Beatrice Carlson at Whare Toi
Event description
Join us at Whare Toi for Recycle your old bits and create your Necklace for the Wall with Beatrice Carlson.
A mixed-media exploration creating a necklace for your wall, using photocollage and recycled materials. Participants will learn knot sliding, photocollage techniques and gain insight into innovative ways to work with recycled materials. You are welcome to bring in your own beads, fabric offcuts and photographs (or coloured photocopies) for your collage:
In the first hour you will work on a 10 x 8cm photocollage using magazines or images you bring to use. The tutor will have also some selected images to use. Followed by 2 intensive hours of stitching the miniature artwork in between a Perspex front piece and fabric backing and finally, adorning it with pearls and beads.
The tutor will provide the front shape in Perspex (with holes already made) and participants can also test and try this part of the making process.
Participants will learn a sliding knot technique to finish their necklace for the wall…or the body! You are encouraged to use your smartphone to make pics of the different steps.
A big THANK YOU to Hospice shops for offering beads, magazines and bits to support this upcycling/repurposing workshop initiative!
Tickets up to $80 and cover all materials. This workshop is suitable for adults/teens.
