Assessment and diagnosis are important steps in the FASD journey, but they are only part of a broader pathway to understanding, support, and improved quality of life. In this 1-hour webinar, Associate Professor Natasha Reid will explore how assessment and diagnosis can be embedded within comprehensive, person-centred care for individuals with FASD and their families.

Based on her invited plenary presentation at the 2026 EUFASD Conference, Associate Professor Reid will draw on Australian research, clinical practice, and service development to examine how services can move beyond diagnosis alone. Topics include improving access to assessment, collaborative goal setting, developmentally appropriate feedback, co-occurring conditions, and integrated supports.

Through practical examples from FASD-informed services, attendees will gain insights into linking assessment with ongoing supports and community care.

About the presenter:

Associate Professor Natasha Reid is a Clinical Psychologist, NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow, and Group Leader of the Perinatal & Early Life Exposures Research Group at the University of Queensland's Child Health Research Centre. She is an internationally recognised researcher and clinician in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), with extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and service development. Natasha has led major national initiatives to improve access to FASD-informed care and has played a key role in the development and implementation of the Australian Guidelines for Assessment and Diagnosis of FASD. Her work focuses on translating research into practical, community-based solutions that improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
