WHAT IS 'AFFIRMATIVE CONSENT'?
Event description
On 23 November 2021, the NSW Parliament announced changes to the sexual consent laws. These reforms came into effect on 1 June 2022 when the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Sexual Consent Reforms) Act 2021 (NSW) commenced operation.
In this workshop Women’s Legal Services NSW solicitors will explain what the introduction of ‘affirmative consent’ really means and look at the history behind the amendments, how they may affect sexual assault reporting, as well as influence cultural change in responding to sexual assault.
Followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session with guest services:
- Womens Legal Service NSW
- Women & Children First
- NSLHD Prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect Unit (PARVAN)
- Mary's House Services
- CatholicCare - Men's Behaviour Change Program
A great opportunity to find out about these services, how they can help you or your clients and ask any questions you might have.
