Event description

NORLA DOME at The Mission to Seafarers venue partner/sponsor

Electroacoustic Sound and light installation, featuring performances from:

PUSHCA
XENOSINE
WONDERING O (EE) &
SARAH JOHNSTON

PUSCHA
Puscha is an ambient artist and film composer from Narrm/Melbourne who creates spacious, cinematic, minimalist soundscapes and musical impressions. Their music explores spatial and psychoacoustic modalities, with the aim of provoking catharsis and deeper listening.
For this performance, they will be playing an electroacoustic modular synthesizer system designed to interface with external instruments and devices via exciters and internal and external microphones. With feedback loops created by the synthesizer playing through the aluminium speakers being picked up by the microphones and fed back into everything else, the sound and resonance of the space itself will be captured and made a part of the performance.

XENOSINE
Xenosine is the moniker of audio-visual artist Vijay Thillaimuthu. The driving force of this practice has always been the joyful exploration of electromagnetic phenomena as well as the visceral, transcendental experiences it can produce in expression as sound, vibration and light. Xenosine creates unique immersive environments that can be experienced across different sensual distinctions based on synergistic approaches with technology.
This unique site specific performance will engulf the Norla Dome in vivid sound reactive laser light. The live and ephemeral nature of this performance ensures it cannot be repeated.

WONDERING O(EE) & SARAH JOHNSTON
Sarah Johnston sound installation suspending aluminium poles activated by transducers which will resonate sound within the Norla Dome. Aluminium sound generation from analog and digital synthesis combined with acoustic instrumentation. A poetic score addressing the parallels between two lands positioned at near polar opposites. Wondering O is Mihkel Tomberg an accomplished electronic composer from Tallinn, Estonia; the pair met through the Estonian Academy of Music and have been collaborating since 2018.
