What's in IT for me?

Event description

Have you ever considered a career in IT? If not, why not? IT underpins everything we do, and you have to be in it to win it.

We are on a mission to encourage, enable, empower and inspire women and girls to step into IT (tech) and thrive.

Join this fun and interactive session inspired by design thinking. Industry mentors, seasoned or early career professionals, and women/girls in secondary or tertiary education come together to workshop the challenges and opportunities of the IT industry.

At the end of the workshop, we hope you will have learnt new skills, improved your confidence, formed lasting friendships and connections, got insight into "geek-whispering" (translating between business and IT), challenged your mindset, obtained more in-depth understanding of what IT is, and caught a glimpse of the diverse career pathways that exist in the industry. Hopefully you will see what YOU bring to IT.

This event is for all the girls and women who are curious about IT, are on a mission to get into IT, or have no idea about what IT is about and what they can bring to the table. It is for all the girls and women who have been told or believe they are "not techie enough" to fit in and add value to the industry.

This is simply not true.

Feminine strengths are absolutely essential to leadership in the industry, ensuring ethical and meaningful application of technology.

In a world where Information Technology is impacting everyone at the speed of light. We are in the midst of the 4th industrial revolution where IT is a chronically male dominated industry, there is a perception you need to be a developer and gamer to take part. NOT TRUE! There are so many different roles in IT, without which we would be creating solutions that don't work, for problems that don't exist.

Here are some of the women in IT / tech that you will meet on the day:
