This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Rob and Emma from Its Naturally You will take you on a walk to explore the Eucalypts in the area as well as looking for scats and tracks to see who lives in our parks.

The walk starts with a briefing and some basic ID skills. After this you’ll set off, starting on a sealed track before heading off track into the native bushlands where the land is undulated with dirt paths. Sturdy shoes and a water bottle are encouraged. The walk will end back at the start under the shelter with a small morning tea and a chance to ask questions and meet others in the community.

This walk marks National Eucalypt Day, held annually on 23 March and is now in its 11th year.  It aims to raise awareness of Eucalypts and celebrate the important place they hold in the hearts and lives of Australians. 18 species of Eucalypts are indigenous to the City of Whittlesea, occurring across the municipality. The River Red Gum is one of the most important visual features of Whittlesea’s local landscape and they are afforded special protection, being both culturally and environmentally significant. This walk explores our native bushland in Riverside Reserve looking at the Eucalypts, learning about the trees and the bushland around them.
