Event description

Join us for an enlightening discussion on the pressing issue of Long-spined sea urchins and their impact on Tasmania's east coast reefs. This invasive species has become a significant concern for marine ecologists, conservationists, and local communities alike due to their appetite for kelp, which form crucial ecosystems supporting marine biodiversity. The Tasmanian Abalone Council Ltd teamed up with the Tasmanian State government to tackle this problem head on through the Abalone industry reinvestment fund (AIRF).

Our speakers will shed light on the issue with the Long-spined sea urchins!

Dr John Keane - Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS)
Dr Scott Ling - Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS)
Joey McKibben - Tasmanian Abalone Council
