โฆ Class Description โฆ
As much fun as we like to have in kink, kinksters are only people. And sometimes people emotionally struggle or are overwhelmed. It's part of life. For us, it might happen during a scene, immediately afterward, hours later, or in the middle of an emotionally difficult conversation, or in spaces unrelated to kink. And when you're the person sitting beside them, it can be surprisingly hard to know what actually helps. We can feel helpless and uncertain in those moments.
This class is about what to do in those situations. It discusses the practice of emotional first aid, or how to respond in the immediate moments following overwhelm, traumatic experiences, high moments of stress, and more.
We'll look at some of the places kink makes responding complicated, how to recognize there is a problem that needs addressing, managing your instincts to fix the problem, helping to create grounding and connection, helping to ease the way for someone's recovery, and more.
Emotional first aid isn't therapy or a replacement for therapy, and it won't guarantee to fix someone's hard or difficult feelings and situation. But you can become more capable of responding well when another human being is having a hard time in front of you. Come learn how to look, listen, link, and recognize your limits, so that "I don't know what to do" doesn't have to be the end of your skill set.
