Preparing for uncertainty. Supporting recovery. Strengthening resilience.

Farming in Northland means living with what the weather brings - drought, El Niño swings, and the pressure that comes with them. Whatever the Weather brings together Chris Brandolino - a seasoned meteorologist and Mark Ford - a stroke-survivor-turned-ultrarunner - for a lunch event that's part practical forecast, part real talk on recovery and resilience.

Hosted by Rural Support Trust Te Tai Tokerau and Beef + Lamb New Zealand, this is a chance to hear from people who understand both the science of what's coming and the human side of getting through it - plus a good lunch and time to connect with other farmers in your community.

Rural Support Te Tai Tokerau is a community-focused charity dedicated to supporting rural people through tough times. Our region spans from the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge right through to Cape Reinga.

We're deeply connected with the rural community, with access to networks, professionals, health services, local and central government agencies, and Civil Defence. This means we're well positioned to offer timely support when you need it most. Whether it's health and wellbeing challenges, dealing with biosecurity threats, employment issues, financial struggles or animal welfare concerns, we're here to help.

The help we provide is free and confidential. Our experienced coordinators and facilitators are rural people themselves, with local knowledge and firsthand experience of the challenges rural life can bring. We’ll meet you one-on-one, at a time and place that suits you, to give the support you need as you navigate change and uncertainty. We also organise community connection events, bringing rural people together to share experiences, build networks, and support one another through the ups and downs of rural life.

As part of a nationwide network, we’re also on hand to offer assistance during and after extreme weather events and other crises that impact livelihoods, including pastoral farming, forestry, horticulture, and other land-based industries.
