Whau Whānau Ride (Kiddies Playground Pootle)
Description
Join us for a meandering playground ride finishing with free hot chocolates! Meet us at Te Kōtuitanga (Olympic Park) Playground with your kiddies and their scooters or bikes.
When: Sunday 27 September, 10.30am
Where: Te Kōtuitanga | Olympic Park Playground
Please register to join the ride. This is a very slow and short ride for young children and whānau. All bodies and all bikes are welcome.
The route
From 10.30am, join us at Olympic Park Playground. Our group ride will begin with a casual meander around Olympic Park, then along the New Lynn to Avondale shared path to Chalmers Reserve playground for a play. From there, we’ll head back along the shared path to Daily Bread for free hot chocolates, fluffies and coffee. You can see the route here.
We’ll be riding at a very slow, easy pace, suitable for kids on balance bikes and scooters. Adults can choose to cycle slowly alongside or walk. The 5km route (2.5km one-way to Chalmers Reserve) is mostly flat, with a small hill on the approach to Chalmers Reserve.
Good to know
The nearby Bike Hub New Lynn will be open from 10am for bike checks and second-hand bike sales. Plan to arrive a little early if you need their assistance. Find out more about our Bike Hubs.
Kids must be accompanied by an adult to join the ride.
