The book’s co-author and KLC CEO, Julia Fabris McBride along with Joseph Shepard, Chief of Staff of Lead for America, will explore the idea that radically accessible and inclusive leadership can unleash the capacity for collective leadership in confronting challenges and seizing opportunities.

KLC PRESENTER BIOS

Julia Fabris McBride

Julia is Chief Civic Leadership Development Officer of the Kansas Leadership Centre (KLC) and a certified coach. She is co-author of best-selling new release, When Everyone Leads the Toughest Challenges get Seen and Solved, and the educator resource, Teaching Leadership. She splits her time between Wichita and Matfield Green, Kansas.

At KLC, Julia oversees teacher and coach development and has created three professional programs for leadership developers, including an International Coach Federation (ICF)-approved Leadership Coach training program, and an Advanced Leadership Development Intensive that has drawn participants from four continents. Julia recently served as KLC’s interim president and CEO.

Before joining KLC (and while wrapping up a fun and varied career as an actor in Chicago), Julia taught leadership and management at the University of Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, University of Massachusetts and the James P. Shannon Leadership Institute. She holds a certificate in leadership from the University of Chicago’s Graham School of General Studies and completed the Art and Practice of Leadership Development (taught by Marty Linsky, Ron Heifetz and Robert Kegan) at Harvard’s Kennedy School. She has trained executives and high potentials at organisations such as Microsoft and United Way of America.

Joseph Shepard

Joseph Shepard is Chief of Staff and Director of Hometown Fellowship for Lead For America, where he oversees the development and execution of a leadership framework mobilising leaders to make a transformational difference in the communities they consider ‘home’. Joseph is a first-generation college graduate and a passionate advocate for young people's success. He is shaped by having overcome the obstacles of poverty and hardship growing up in a military family, including homelessness. These experiences are the foundation of his commitment to tackling critical issues that hinder young people from achieving their dreams.

With a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's degree in Public Administration focused on not-for-profit management, Joseph is currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership at Wichita State University. Joseph has previously worked with the Kansas Leadership Centre as a Program Specialist.
