Then, somewhere between the music, the late nights, and the people you meet when you least expect to, it started to make sense. A glance that lingered. A laugh that felt strangely familiar. Conversations that picked up as though they’d already begun somewhere else.

Maybe that’s the magic of putting yourself out there. You don’t always know what you’re looking for. You just know there’s something worth finding.

And then, suddenly, there you are.

Not exactly as imagined. Better. Real. Alive. A little unexpected, a little electric...

Sometimes you don’t discover a feeling by searching for it. You discover it by saying yes to the possibility of something more.

Introduction

Welcome to Third Rodeo’s darling Lesbian/Queer Social Gathering!

A vibrant event designed for connection, conversation, flirting, and making new friends. There are 80 spots available, so seize the opportunity!

Our goal for 2026 is simple: to continue creating a fun, loving, and inclusive third space where you can be challenged, find community, and build meaningful connections. If you’re new here, Third Rodeo’s name is inspired by the Third Place Theory the idea that true, authentic connections are forged in a third environment outside of home and work. The word "Rodeo" comes from the phrase, "not my first rodeo," symbolising confidence.

The more our community chooks attend our events, the more they feel comfortable in expressing their identity and greeting new people. Your support means the world to us. Third Rodeo raises funds through these events with the dream of opening a permanent third space in Naarm. We believe we can make it happen.

In the meantime, saddle up and put yourself out there, you never know what fate or destiny has in store. Perhaps tonight is the night you were meant to meet someone special.

Event Details

Come join us on the evening of Friday 11 September at Nevermind Bar, Next D'or Bar, in Hawthorn. It is a casual, but charming atmosphere, privately booked out for you to socialise among the Lesbian/Queer community. Grab your bloody shiraz or lemon lime bitters from the bar and turn strangers into dearest companions. 

Event Breakdown

We'll greet ya at the door, tick ya name off and give you a name card. 

★ Name Game: You will be given a card with someone else's name on it. It is your mission to find this person through greeting new people and asking for their names. Note - once you ask for someone's name, you should exchange questions on the back. This creates chatter and encourages everyone to meet. The connections are boundless!

★ Two pool tables! Bring ya spare change!

★ Call me cards: Keep in contact with each other. Write your details down on one of the 'Call me Cards' displayed around the venue. It's a lovely gesture, an old fashion trick that works like charm! 

Lesbian Leaderboard

At each event, we will hide the Golden Scissors somewhere around the venue. The first person to find the scissors will earn a free drink.

This is operating at a licensed venue. Please do not BYO. This event is designed for persons 21+ . Please note, you will be exposed to loud chatter, large crowds, background music and mood lighting. Photography will be present, although, if you wish to not have your photograph taken, let us know. This venue is not fully wheelchair accessible. We are working assiduously towards functions that are fully disability accessible.

At Third Rodeo, we believe in creating a warm and inviting space for the Lesbian and Queer community to thrive. Our events are designed specifically for individuals in their 20s and up, providing a dedicated environment where you can make meaningful connections.

Our philosophy is simple. We are your Third home. 

Whether you come solo or with friends, or if its your First or Third Rodeo, you’ll find our atmosphere relaxed, charming, and just a little bit cheeky! We’re all about bringing people together, and we’re thrilled to have hosted successful events in Naarm/Melbourne, Gadigal Land/Sydney, Meanjin/Brisbane, Boorloo/Perth and Kaurna Country/Adelaide. Many of my own beautiful queer friendships have blossomed from these gatherings, and I can’t wait for you to experience the same.

I know it can be intimidating to show up alone, but trust me, you’re not alone in that feeling. Everyone is here for the same reason: to connect and find their community. You’ll quickly find that our crowd is warm, friendly, and welcoming!
