Creating Respectful & Inclusive Hospitality Workplaces

Hospitality brings together people from diverse ages, cultures, backgrounds, abilities and experiences. Creating a respectful and inclusive workplace is essential for strong teams, positive customer experiences and safe, productive venues.

This practical two hour online workshop uses hospitality-specific examples and scenarios to explore workplace diversity, respectful behaviour and obligations under Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Act. Participants will gain practical knowledge to help recognise appropriate workplace behaviour and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

The workshop will be delivered by the Training and Education Officer at the Office of the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commissioner and has been designed to help hospitality businesses build respectful workplaces, reduce workplace risk, support legal compliance and foster positive team cultures where everyone can thrive.

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

• Identify unlawful and inappropriate workplace behaviour, including discrimination and harassment.

• Understand their legal rights and responsibilities under Tasmania's anti-discrimination legislation.

• Recognise the role each person plays in creating and maintaining a respectful, safe and inclusive workplace.

• Respond appropriately when concerns arise and contribute to a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion and respect.
