The Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus brings you our spring concert, “Where the Light Begins”, as a positive and emotional response to the sometimes difficult and dark events we have witnessed in our communities and across the globe these past few years.
This season we have chosen to find ways to heal, to reconnect with the things that bring us closer to each other, and to find a sense of belonging. Finding solace in the natural world not only nourishes us, but reminds us that we all belong…and that we can have a powerful impact on protecting our planet, and each other.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
The light can begin in us—we don’t need to look for floodlights, just sparks.
Come join us for an evening of music that explores wind, fire, land, light and finding “the peace of wild things”.
Friday, May 19, and Saturday May 20, 2023, at the St. Cecilia Music Center.
Doors open at 7:00 pm; concerts begin at 7:30 pm.
INTRODUCING OUR NEW SLIDING SCALE TICKETS MODEL
“Pay the price that works for you…more if you can, less if you can’t!”
We believe live musical performance should not be a luxury or privilege but available and accessible to all who want to participate. Towards that core belief of inclusivity, we have embraced a sliding scale ticket model available to our Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus audience.
Our suggested ticket price will remain at $20 (plus on-line purchasing fees) which we recognize may be affordable for some and prohibitive for others. $20 in no way reflects the real economics of producing our shows, paying our artistic director, assistant director, accompanist, bookkeeper, and special guest musicians - that would be much more than a $20 ticket. A $20 ticket is simply what we hope is a comfortable median from which you can make your own decision about what your current circumstances can bear. We want to make concert-going a regular part of our cultural lives, so we ask you to decide what ticket price works for your unique and everchanging circumstances. Let’s hold each other up as a community and welcome each other into a room filled with Passion. Purpose. Song.
WHAT SHOULD I PAY?
We simply ask that you thoughtfully consider your current level of income (no proof required), and your ability to support a fair price for fellow community members in need.
Are you in a place of abundance where you can hold and nurture others today who can’t afford this concert experience? Or are you struggling and need to lean on others today to recharge your batteries? The amount you pay may change for each concert you attend. Thank you for making the thoughtful choice that works best for you…right now. No matter what you choose, we are grateful for your support and interest in live music. We look forward to seeing you at our next concert.
