Whetū Mārama - Bright Star: movie night fundraiser
Come along to Lighthouse Cuba at 6pm on Thursday 11 August to see the five star doco: "Whetū Mārama - Bright Star". This is a fundraiser for the Te Aro Greens.
Three men from far flung islands revived the building of ocean-going waka and star voyaging cross the Pacific: a Hawaiian, a Micronesian and Hek Busby, “The Chief” from Aotearoa/New Zealand.
It's the story of Sir Hekenukumai and his significance in rekindling the ancestral way-finding DNA and reclaiming the role of traditional star voyagers on the world map.
