Whisky on the Goldfields
Event description
Delving into the history of whisky on the goldfields through stories, songs and tasting, take your ears, eyes and taste buds on a liquid journey. From illicit distilling to tent bars, spirits as currency, the role of whisky in the Eureka Rebellion, and the many and varied escapades of producers and drinkers, Amie will have the audience on the edge of their seats as they are taken on a rollicking journey through the 18th century. The show shines a light on a hidden part of Ballarat’s history, revealing people and events that have shaped the city. It is a multisensory experience that blends stories and songs – traditional folk songs and dirty old blues – with a guided tasting of three whiskies.
Created and performed by musician and storyteller, Amie Brûlée, aka Dr Amie Sexton, expert in drinks history.
Part of Ballarat Heritage Festival's week of activities.
