Who is this? This question, asked by the disciples in the boat after the stilling of the storm, is probably one of the most important in Mark's Gospel. Throughout the Gospel, Mark, a brilliant story-teller, introduces not only who Jesus was but what difference this might make to the people who follow him, then and now.

Dr Paula Gooder is Canon Chancellor of St Paul’s Cathedral. She also holds visiting and honorary positions at Birmingham Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral, St Andrew’s University, Durham University, Kings College, London, and Trinity College, Bristol.
