Whooper Walks in Louisiana Nov. 7, 2026 to Mar. 13, 2027 (1 Saturday per month 9 a.m.)

Join us for morning bird walks at White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area in Gueydan, Louisiana! We will meet in the parking area at the White Lake Birding Trail at 9 a.m. We'll walk around the trail as a group to explore the birds local to the marshes of south Louisiana and hopefully see some of the local specialties like Limpkins, Great Kiskadees, and Vermilion Flycatchers. If we're lucky, we may be able to see an endangered Whooping Crane either at the trail or along the roadway leading to the Birding Trail. Dress for the weather, bring bug spray and sun protection, walking shoes or boots, and join our Whooper Walks!

Important Note: All participants ages 18 and older must have a Wildlife Management Area Access Permit purchased prior to the Whooper Walk. Either annual permits ($20) or five-day permits ($5) can be purchases at louisianaoutdoors.com or any hunting/fishing license vendor. Each participant must also fill outa free Self-Clearing Permit either upon arrival or up to 24 hours before arriving to the walk.
