MIDNIGHT is a fresh, contemporary take on the Cinderella story, weaving themes of empowerment, duty, and change into the timeless, magical tale. The story begins with young Stella discovering a book that transports her into the world of Ella, a determined young woman dedicated to helping others in her kingdom. When her father unexpectedly remarries and then tragically passes away, Ella is left at the mercy of her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. Meanwhile, the Prince struggles under the weight of royal expectations and finds solace in a chance encounter with Ella, who challenges his views on leadership and justice. Their brief yet impactful meeting inspires him to reconnect with his ideals, leading him to host a grand ball in hopes of finding her again.

Unlike traditional Cinderella retellings, MIDNIGHT reimagines its heroine as a force for change rather than a passive dreamer. With the help of the mysterious Ms. Madrina and her talking teddy bear companion, Mr. Abernathy, Ella crashes the ball—not to win the Prince’s heart, but to convince him to reform the kingdom. However, when political forces threaten both their futures, the Prince pushes Ella away to protect her. Realising that true leadership comes from courage and not just sacrifice, they join forces to outwit the scheming King and secure justice for the kingdom. In the end, love flourishes not as a reward for endurance but as a partnership built on shared vision and strength, making Midnight a compelling and contemporary twist on a timeless tale.

MIDNIGHT is an Australian musical, with music composed by John Foreman and Anthony Costanzo and book written by Dean Murphy and Pip Mushin.

• Canteen Facilities will be available before and during interval of the show
• There will be no cash sales. Please use our EFTPOS machines provided for all purchases at the Canteen and for your Souvenir Programme
• All guests/tickets will be scanned on entry to the theatre. Please have these ready
