Event description

Through a series of 3 in-person* sessions over Thursday and Friday, we will explore and practice a range of methods to take your adult community education into the digital world.

Session 1: Options for Delivering Digital Training

Thur 25 Mar, 12pm - 3pm (at the latest, we often finish a little early)

We will explore the range of ways we can train and teach others online. We will look at both live and pre-recorded options; including making simple videos and podcasts, through to running interactive webinars and teleconferencing and more.

Session 2: Converting Content to Digital Training
Fri 26 Mar, 9am - 12pm

In the second session we will discover how to tailor the range of in-person training formats into the most suitable digital alternative. We will unpack how your specific training and learning content may be converted into the options explored during Session 1.

Session 3: Creating a Digital Learning Hub
Fri 26 Mar, 12.30pm - 3pm (at the latest, we often finish a little early)

This final session will delve into creating simple online learning hubs – a place where you can share your training and associated documents in one user-friendly place.

These introductory workshops will ease you into the world of online teaching and learning with interactive activities, and opportunities to get hands-on and practice during and between the three sessions.

*should Covid-19 restrictions change, training sessions will be held online or postponed

This course is designed for any adult community educators, or community or neighbourhood centres, looking to develop their digital literacy for online events, workshops, or training.

We highly recommend attending all three sessions.

FURTHER INFORMATION:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will the training run for?

These session will run for approximately 2.5-3 hours each, will begin promptly and will finish by the end time if not a bit before.

Can I attend just one session?

Yes, you can, however we highly recommend attending as many sessions as possible to get the most out of the digital training.

Is there a commitment beyond the training?

There is some optional practice we recommend after the sessions. It’s not compulsory, but it gives you a chance to try things out.

Will there be food and drinks provided?

Due to Covid-19 health and safety food will not be provided. Tea, coffee, and water may be provided depending on the venue and their Covid-19 procedure. In either case, please bring your own water bottle and mug/reusable coffee cup if possible.

Do I need access to special equipment?

For the training it would be ideal to bring a smart phone which has a camera to take photos and video. You are also welcome to bring a laptop if you would like, but it’s not necessary. After the training you will need access to a laptop or computer for some elements of digital training. We will discuss this more during the sessions.
