Join us for a fabulous night celebrating women in our community, where we will honour the legacies of our WiBRD Hall of Fame inductees. Sarah Brokensha will share her experiences & wisdom and Kate Hill will share our joint Photography Project, celebrating the ‘Extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary’ an exhibition showcasing women in our region. Wander through and immerse yourself in the exhibitions, sip bubbles & spritzers, nibble on gourmet cheeses and charcuterie, soak in the ‘vibe’ of the space, and most importantly, connect with others and share some fun!

About our Speakers......

Sarah Brokensha

Sarah began her acting career on the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre stage when she was let loose with one line of dialogue in Grant High Schools’ 1991 production of Oklahoma! Since then she has been lucky enough to perform on many stages with theatre companies such as State Theatre Company of South Australia, Windmill Productions, Vitalstatistix, floogle, The Paper Boats and extensively with Patch Theatre. She is also a co-founder of theatre company Control Party (formally known as The Misery Children). Career highlights include tours to China and North America with Patch Theatre Company, with seasons in Nashville and in New York, off Broadway. Hands down one of the best experiences of her life.
She also runs a farm, ‘Glenhuntly’ just outside Mt Gambier in Eight Mile Creek with her husband Liam and two boys, Finnegan (10) and Fergus (8). She is the third generation of her family to look after this piece of land. They mainly run sheep and 6 years ago, as part of the regenerative farming philosophy passed down from her Mum and Dad, they naively began a pastured free range egg business called The Splendid Egg because they had a bit of time to spare.
Theatre credits include Seven Little Wonders (The Paper Boats), The World Is Looking For You (Control Party), Appleton Ladies Potato Race (STCSA), Black Crow Lullabies and Ollie and the Minotaur (floogle), Mutzenball (little black box theatre/The Misery Children - WINNER 2008 Green Room Theatre Award for Best Cabaret Ensemble), Ruby Bruise (Vitalstatistix Theatre Company/ The Misery Children), Emily Loves to Bounce and Me and My Shadow (Patch Theatre Company) and The Girl Who Cried Wolf (Windmill Theatre).
Film and television credits include Talk To Her (Philippou Brothers), Wanted - S3 (Peter Templeman), Wolf Creek - S2 (Geoff Bennett), Rabbit (Luke Shanahan), Rain Shadow (Southern Star Productions), short feature film Angela’s Decision (Mat King Productions) and King, Coward (short film/Quiet Giant). Sarah was also recently featured in SBS documentary series Four Worlds (Richard Coburn).

Kate Hill

Kate Hill is a Walkley-award winning photojournalist who has spent more than two decades working across Australia’s top newsrooms. Based in the Limestone Coast, Kate writes and photographs for SA Life and specialises in editorial and portrait photography. Her favourite type of subject? People who say, “oh, I take a terrible photo….”
