Wicked Reboot Photography Exhibition - Opening Night NAARM
Event description
Come along to the Naarm opening of the 'Wicked Reboot Project’, an exhibition of new photographic works that recreate archival images from the Wicked Women Collection. Working with photographer Jamie James, Tiger Salmon has directed photoshoots in Sydney and Melbourne that feature models from the community to restage poses, clothing, and props from the original Wicked Women photographs.
These works capture the fierce energy of the Queer 1990s with contemporary models who represent the increased visibility of gender fluidity, ethnic diversity, age range, and body size.
This photographic exhibition showcases the wickedness of queers and foster intergenerational connections between older dykes and trans folk with younger generations. The exhibition is an opportunity to learn about the values, adventures, and antics of the 1990s Wicked community, with the archival images exhibited alongside their recreated counterparts.
