Event description

Garden Goodness Australia and the Australian Worm Firm are teaming up with Melrose Community Development Association to bring this fantastic workshop to Melrose.  Starting at 10am and ending approx. 4.30pm Saturday 5th April 2025.

Join us for an empowering day of hands-on learning where you'll discover the art of creating thriving wicking beds and unlocking the potential of medicinal herbs.  Enjoy fantastic deals on products and take the first step towards revolutionizing your gardening and wellness practices.

This comprehensive workshop will be in two parts and will cover:

Medicinal Herbs:

For the first workshop, join Danyell, a functional nutritionist from Herbal Goodness Australia for an in-depth exploration of many medicinal herbs, that can be used to support your health and how to incorporate them into your diet and lifestyle.

Danyell will demonstrate how to make a delicious, immune-boosting elderberry cordial while discussing how to make and harvest home remedies. Attendants will be able to collect their own elderberry syrup recipe to take home!

Dried herbal goodies including elderberries will be available for sale at a special discount for workshop attendees only! There will also be a range of medicinal plants grown for Garden Goodness Smithfield by local suppliers, available till stocks run out!

Q and A session afterwards!

*Note: Herbal knowledge is not a substitute for medical advice and we recommend that any dosages are checked with a trained professional who can advise on your specific circumstances.*

Wicking beds:

The second workshop will be a practical demonstration of how to set up and maintain a variety of wicking beds.

Alison from Garden Goodness Australia and The Australian Worm Firm has considerable experience working as a gardener and beginner permaculture designer for Garden Goodness Gardening Services. She will share some innovative insights into conserving water and working in small or very dry spaces, perfect for the home gardener and farmer. Alison will explain the science of how wicking beds work, and the different methods available for setting up your wicking bed, including some conventional and new ways of working.

Alison will also demonstrate how to set up a wicking bed planter box and if you are purchasing on the day, will be able to assist you with setting yours up too!

Attendees at this workshop will be offered some fantastic deals on the day. If you've been thinking about getting a wicking bed, or customising one, this is your chance to do it at a great price and with the advice right on hand!
